We had rent a car from Goldcar through Rentalcar.com. We had included the excess insurance of rentalcar.com in our contract for the protection of our deposit and had already payed for everything and we had the confirmation from the rentalcar.com.
When arrived to the Goldcar desk to collect the car in Pisa airport, we had to face a very rude and unfriendly employee. He asked us to pay additional 52.59 euros. When asked why, he said this is the rest payment of your insurance. He explained: what you have paid to rentalcar.com for insurance was just part of the payment, you have to pay this additional cost in order to collect the car. We knew this can't be right, but arguing with him had no point, we wouldnt get the car if we hadnt paid. We payed in total 168 Euros for insurance plus 52 euros for the car, this for FOUR days.
Later we called both rentalcar.com and Goldcar customer service to ask for clarification. Both said that this was not correct, and we had the option to pay the deposit and collect the car. However while realizing the mistake, both Rentalcar and Goldcar customer service told us that they can't do anything about it.
We had never experienced such a rude and dishonest service anywhere. To lie in order to trick your customer to pay more, is just stealing from your customer. And then realizing this and do nothing about it, just shows thats the company's culture.
